Uranus Stations Direct, The Nodes Change Signs

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

One of the other prominent parts of this month's astrology, like I mentioned in the year ahead, is that Uranus goes direct. Today is the day. On January 18, Uranus stations direct in Taurus, just on the heels of this emotional full moon in Cancer and just before the Lunar Nodes change signs.

When Uranus does anything in the sky, we can expect a shake-up. Where this will occur for you will depend largely on the House through which Uranus is transiting. Look for where Taurus is in your birth chart--is it in the 6th House, the House of the body and work? Or the 9th House, of educational and religious pursuits? Or the 2nd House, of both what you value but also your actual physical stuff?

In one sense, Uranus stationing direct might feel cathartic and less chaotic, but because Uranus loves chaos generally, this transit might still have us feeling big Taureans vibes.

The Lunar Nodes are also shifting, this time away from Gemini and Sagittarius and into Taurus and Scorpio. The North Node, which is shifting from Gemini to Taurus, comments on where we are going--our dharmic path, if you will--while the South Node, which is shifting from Sagittarius to Scorpio, has to do with the past and what we are taking with us as we move forward. I usually explain broadly that the North Node shows us what our focus for the next 18 months will likely be on, and the South Node shows us something that we have already mastered but that we're perhaps likely still coming to terms with.

The North Node moving into Taurus feels hopeful and healing after the last couple of years, where we have been overwhelmed by information, two-sided divisions, and a lot of impacts to travel, as Mercury-ruled Gemini would focus us. Taurus is stubborn and plodding but moves with a lot of intentional direction and shines in its ability to hold space. There's, I think, going to be a focus on healing and unity under this influence.

That Uranus goes direct in the same sign at the same time will likely signal something big, both personally and collectively. What shift needs to happen in the part of our charts that contains Taurus to help us move forward? What shifts need to happen on a global scale?

Uranus encourages rebellion, which is why when it squared Saturn--the ruler, the greater Malificent--like it did several times in the past two years, it encouraged insurrection and the breaking apart of the world's superficial structures. We are still trying to find our way out of the rubble from this power clash, but still learning what we have learned from what the shake-up has exposed.

To honor this transition, do what you need to be wholly yourself. Take the risk of rebelling against our culture and just loving yourself like Taurus energy wants for us all. Make a safe space within yourself; take that bit of control back from the madness. Take a bath with lavender and mint (or do what I do and just put lavender fucking everywhere). Hold a bit of laboradite, or another stone that has meaning for you, close. And, most of all: sit tight and enjoy the ride.
