This week is made of some big moments that we've been building towards, including a conjunction between Venus and Mars and a full Moon in Leo, and on the heels of Pluto's conjunction with Mercury, there is a chance that we could be exploring the depths of our relationships with passion and drive, just in time for Valentine's Day.
The start of the week is quiet, with Mercury moving into Aquarius post-retrograde on Monday but not much else until Wednesday, when Venus makes a conjunction to Mars, though we are likely already starting to feel this now. This meeting between the planet of love and the planet of war is the thing that myths are made of; the masculine in the sky is meeting the feminine*, a story of creation is unfolding. Venus-Mars conjunctions signal that for many of us, there may be a kind of passion infused into our relational dealings as well as the areas of our charts that contain Capricorn (find out in what house Capricorn resides in your chart). Pluto energy this month is still roiling behind the scenes--can you feel it?!--so power discussions within our relationships might also be cause for passionate dealings.
On the same day as this conjunction between Venus and Mars, we have a luxurious, powerful full Moon in Leo. This full Moon encourages us to be our biggest, brightest selves and release not just what we must let go of but also what we have to give to the world. Leo is a sign that begs to be seen but also has the generous lion's heart; take a note from the conjunction between love and aggression in the sky and find a way to meditate on what you must release in order to shine brighter and to give more. Search within yourself for what you may be holding on to but that no longer serves you; if you will be able to love more to others by letting it go, let the energy of this week's sky encourage you along the way.
On Thursday, Jupiter makes a Sextile to Uranus, which could make extravagance and overindulgence all too easy, even for stodgier signs. This transit is a signal that some luck, or relief, might be in store; look in what houses these planets are in your natal chart, which can give you an idea of where this transit will be occurring for you.
Then, on Friday, the Sun moves into Pisces, and a new season begins.
This is all a preview of things to come, as the month will end with a conjunction between the Moon, Venus, Mars, and Pluto, which will no doubt allow some unexpected emotions to bubble forth, lighting our way to explore our own depths through those with whom we are in relationship.
As you may have already gleaned, the astrology of this month--as well as much of this year--is commenting on power and the power structures of our personal and collective lives. The conjunction between Mercury and Pluto likely felt more than palpable for those with Scorpio Rising yesterday (and today) as well as those with Pluto-dominant charts. If you feel like something--larger than life, mysterious, ominous--is coming, you're likely not alone. Something is coming, but much of the astrology of the last several years and those to come is an emphasis on the truth that something is always coming. Uranus, one of the dominant conversationalists of 2022, loves to remind us that change is purposeful, and Pluto, a dominant conversationalist through 2024, reminds us that change is inevitable.
Now that Mercury and Venus are direct, perhaps these changes are clearer for us all. But either way, steel yourselves for the unexpected; find stillness in the chaos and let the passion and opulence of this week fuel your convictions towards expansion.
*I am an astrologer who refrains, generally, from referring to Venus and Mars as feminine and masculine signs; many modern day astrologers still talk about men and women as being Mars and Venus, but when I speak of them in these terms, I'm speaking more to the mythological significance. I don't believe Mars is a masculine sign simply because it is aggressive or that Venus, as a receiver, is feminine by virtue of being a lover and more passive. I am an advocate for veering away from this verbiage in readings.
